About Steve & Susan Vinton

Steve & Susan Vinton live in Tanzania and serve in Village Schools International.

Steve Vinton has served for more than two decades as a missionary in Africa, first as a teacher, and then as an advisor to his former students as they worked together to establish primary and secondary schools, a teacher training college, a theological college, churches, medical clinics and various community development projects.

Susan Vinton was a Peace Corps volunteer before she met Steve, served with the Salvation Army World Service office for 3 years and later as a missionary has been involved in curriculum development, helping women start small businesses, teacher training and most recently in mobilizing people to address the problem of HIV/AIDS in the villages where VSI is building schools.

About Village Schools International

Sharing the Gospel through Education in Africa

Village Schools International sends missionary teachers to small villages in Africa to get so involved in the lives of their students that sharing the gospel is the natural result of loving them. Our first school was built in early 2005 in just 70 days, inspiring a movement that today involves people from 176 villages working together to build schools for their children. Twenty-one schools are already open, eight others are under construction, and over 5400 students are enrolled who otherwise would never have had a chance to go to school.
