John R. Wayland - Senior Pastor

John is our Senior Pastor. He served in various leadership positions with Young Life for sixteen years from 1985 to 2001. John became the Senior Pastor at NorthWest Bible Church in 2002. John graduated from Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas in 1981 with a Bachelor of Science in Education. He earned his Master of Arts in Biblical Studies from Dallas Theological Seminary in 1984.

John has been married to his wife, Debbie, for 25 years. John and Debbie have three kids, Kelly (21), Tyler (20), and Mason (16). John has written two books, A Daily Passage Through Mark and A Daily Passage Through The Psalms.

In his own words: "I am actually the second pastor in my family. My great grandfather, Charles C. Selecman, was a Methodist Bishop and was the third president of Southern Methodist University."
