Debbie Turner serves on the staff of NorthWest Bible Church in the office of Ministry Support & Communication. She joyfully serves as an administrative assistant to the ministry directors and pastoral staff of NWBC.
Among her responsibilities, she does the Sunday bulletin, weekly prayer sheet, quarterly newsletter, maintains the church calendar, answers the phone, and updates the church's website.
Debbie and her husband, Ken, have been members of NWBC since 1988. They have been married for 22 years and have two daughters, Chelsea and Haley. Debbie was an elementary school teacher prior to joining the church staff almost 4 years ago. (This means she is really patient and kind with the staff and she has excellent handwriting).
In her own words: “I enjoy encouraging others and consider it a joy and a privilege to be a part of the ministries of NWBC. I can't believe I get paid to do what I love!
I have found that being a “church secretary” is very interesting and rewarding because my duties go far beyond administrative work. When I first came to the church office, a dear friend of mine (whose Mom just so happened to be the original secretary for NorthWest Bible Church) gave me a funny, but somewhat true, description of the church secretary’s job. It read, 'Church Secretary – Lifts buildings to walk under them. Kicks locomotives off their tracks. Catches speeding bullets in her teeth. Freezes water with a single glance. When God speaks she says, ‘May I ask who is calling?’”
"I love my job!"
