Steve O’Brien has been married 30 yrs to his awesome wife, Jane. Together they have three children – Sean (26,) Heather (24), and Ashley (19). Steve has been in full time ministry for 27 years. He earned his Bachelor's degree in Music Education at Wayland Baptist University in 1982. He did his Master's work in Choral Conducting at the University of Texas in Austin and Master's work in Human and Organizational Development at Trinity Theological Seminary.
Steve has been our Pastor of Worship and Family Ministry at NWBC since July of 2004. Jane has been involved in children’s music education for 22 years.
In his own words: "My greatest joy as a worship leader is to see the congregation enter into true intimate worship of God, freely expressing to Him the honor and love He is due without any distractions. What an incredible experience!" "When it comes to Family Ministry, I love to see families and marriages restored. To see the cycle of divorce and pain broken for future generations. I love to see seasoned couples mentor younger couples as to what a healthy marriage can look like." "Some life Scriptures for me are Psalm 34:1-3 and Psalm 51: 10-13. Some hobbies I enjoy are woodworking and camping. I only watch the original CSI and NCIS. I have had several nick names over the years: Twinkle Toes, SOB(my initials), Obie 1, Obie, SteveO, The greatest American hero, Pop, and Stefan.
