Valerie Mayer - Director of Nursery

print view

Valerie is the Director of our Nursery Ministry. She earned her Bachelor of Business Administration with a double major of International Business and Economics from Sam Houston State University, Huntsville, Texas. Valerie worked for ten years in the international transportation industry and spent seven years as a stay-at-home Mom before joining the NWBC staff in 2007.

As our Nursery Director, she oversees a professional staff of nearly twenty women on Sunday's and during NWBC weekday ministries. She and her staff are responsible for children from birth to two years old on Sunday and from newborn to fifth grade during the week. The Nursery Ministry provides curriculum and childcare for Sunday School, Children's Church, Moms and Mentors, AWANA, choir, Parents Night Out, and for all of the Women's and Men's Bible studies throughout the week. Our childcare is for children ages fifth grade and under.

Valerie was raised in a Christian home and came to know the Lord as her personal Savior at an early age. Valerie has always had a passion for serving the body of Christ. For five years prior to coming on staff, Valerie coordinated the Meals of Love ministry here at NWBC. She has also served in various roles within Women's ministry over the years. Her husband, Doug, is actively involved in the Men's Ministry. Doug and Valerie have two daughters; Lindsey (11) is in the fifth grade and Ashton (8) is in the second grade at Kuehnle Elementary.

In her own words: "I love children and have a special affinity for the little ones. My desire is to see children brought up in the 'nurture and admonition of the Lord,' and to serve the families here at NWBC. I love teaching Jesus' love to the little ones at an early age and touching their parents with His love. My prayer is that God will be glorified in every aspect of our ministry. I feel truly blessed to have the privilege of serving on the staff of NWBC and look forward to serving you and your children."
