Elementary Age Ministry

Elementary (1st - 5th grades)

Sunday School ~ 9:30 to 10:45 - Our Elementary classrooms use Hands-On Bible Curriculum, which is designed to meet this age groups individual learning experience with an exciting, multi-sensory, age appropriate Bible lesson. Biblical truths that are life changing are taught with the specific age of the child in mind. Each grade level has its own classroom which enhances the desired small group atmosphere. Free play and crafts are utilized to further add a learning component as lesson time allows. Take home pages are given to each child in order for parents to reinforce the Bible lesson.

Children's Church 10:45 AM to 12:00 Noon (September-May) - A steadfast faith is built on the firm foundation of God's Word. Our Children's Church staff uses the Firm Foundations: Creation to Christ curriculum which presents in order key teachings about:

  • God's nature and character
  • Man's sinful state and separation from God
  • God's grace, presence and activity through history
  • Christ as the promised Redeemer

Moving from Genesis through the life of Christ, students can see God's plan of redemption unfold as His character is revealed.
First, second and third grades are combined.

By placing children in mixed age groups, it is our intention to minimize competition. Older children help younger children and the younger ones look up to the older ones.

The ROCK (4th & 5th grades) ~ Sundays at 10:45 AM (September-May) - The "Rely On Christ" Klub is just what we want our 4th & 5th graders to do. Based on Proverbs 3:5-6, it is our goal to help this group of kids who are no longer considered young children, but are not yet teens, learn how to navigate their way through day to day living by relying on God to help them. Whether they are Homeschooled, go to  private schools, or attend public schools, each day they are faced with making choices. We want them to understand that the Bible is not an antiquated book that  is not relevant to them, but "66 Books of Instruction" that can be applied to every situation in their lives.

The ROCK meets in the balcony and participates in the music and worship part of the 11:00 service (they sit together with their teachers in a reserved section). They then go into the upstairs classroom to continue their worship through prayer and an age -ppropriate devotion and lesson using their Bibles.

Relationship building is a big part of the ROCK.  Although we want these kids to have the ultimate relationship with Jesus as their Savior, we also want them to build relationships with each other....relationships that will take them through the next years together in youth group. We facilitate this by having monthly gatherings (movie nights, game mights, skating & bowling parties) to allow the ROCKers time to fellowship outside of their regular Sunday morning meetings.
